Match Report

August 2009
A jolly game of International One Day cricket under Round Robin rules was played at Ham & Cheese Park on a sunny 9
th August 2009.

A healthy turn out ensured at least 20 players of varying nationalities took to the field to mark the visit to these clement shores of the French contingent ably led by the Beermonster, playing under the nom de guerre of ‘Popeye Doyle’.

In the absence of Matthew ‘Capt Mainwaring’ Shard, Zorba took charge, kept score and a very vague semblance of order and organisation.

When the tardy French (and others) eventually arrived, play got underway with full participation by all and sundry (Sundry being a Brazilian who despite never having played before participated ably).

Scorebook highlights record the following high scores, which under Round Robin rules include fielding as well as batting scores:

Sheikh Rat’n’Roll           - 41
Tripe                             - 43
Enter Aaron                   - 46
Billy Shanks                  - 49

And topping the scorecard – Popeye Doyle with a magnificent 51 – well done to the Monster

Man of the Match was eventually decided as Enter Aaron for all round excellent play, not to mention 5 excellent catches!

Champagne Moment had to be the moment play was interrupted by a tornado whipping across the park.
